Arnold Schönberg to Emil Hertzka
Arnold Schönberg Center, Vienna
“Dear Director, I had no time left to visit you before my departure, so I am informing you that I arrived in the evening the day before yesterday; I am already working on the Harmonielehre and I am beginning to address the Jakobsleiter. I hope it will turn out well. Sometimes it goes slowly, but my tempo is quickly increasing. […] Warm greetings to you. Come visit me.”
Emil Hertzka was director of Universal Edition in Vienna, Schönberg’s main publisher since 1909.
